Diamonds coach Norma Plummer and athletes will remain focused on winning back to back World Netball Championships following her appointment as head coach of the West Coast Fever in the 2012 ANZ Championship.
With twelve months until the commencement of the 2012 ANZ Championship, West Coast Fever confirmed on Thursday that Plummer will take on the role of head coach for the follow two ANZ Championship seasons.
Speculation surrounding Plummer’s coaching future has been put to rest so the Diamonds can focus on the job at hand with one month until the opening game of the 2011 World Netball Championships against Samoa on 4 June in Singapore.
“It was important that any conjecture on her future was put to rest so that we can get on with the job of defending the World Netball Championships,” Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer said.
Netball Australia will appoint a national team coach in August following next month’s World Netball Championships in Singapore, with the recruitment process underway.
“This appointment will not prevent Plummer from throwing her hat in the ring for the national role,” Palmer said.
Plummer will commence her role with the West Coast Fever in September.
