Game Report: Despite trailing for most of the first half the Queensland 19/U side has overcome a strong ACT outfit 37-21. Some early communication errors by the Queensland side allowed the ACT to take an early lead. Early in the quarter the ACT were able to establish a 3 goal lead, despite Queensland’s relentless attack the ACT were able to maintain this margin with the scores sitting at 7-4 at the first break. After the rest both sides were trading goals until QLD goal keeper Laura Clemensha was able to gain possession of the ball and give Queensland a much needed opportunity to begin the catch up. Queensland was able to gain momentum and eventually would level the score with the ACT, before a long duel for the lead. An intercept by QLD player Alanna Kinross created a passage of play that allowed Shannon Holmes to put Queensland in front for the first time in the match. Thanks to an improvement in passing and shooting accuracy the Queensland side was able to finish the first half with a 13-10 lead. The third quarter saw both teams trading goals once again until the determined Queenslanders were able to break the cycle and improve their lead. The ACT was unable to overcome the defence of the QLD side with goal keeper Laura Clemensha slowing down the goal scoring of the ACT who went into the third quarter break trailing 25-16. The final quarter saw Queensland take complete control of the game, out-scoring the ACT 12-5 for a final score of 37-21.
